Hi there, and welcome to Fridays From the Frontline, Clear Admit’s regular post focused on the ‘blawgosphere.’ As 2010 barrelled into its second week, many current students found themselves back in classes and looking for summer jobs.
Ricky Nelson asked his readers for input on whether having a roommate during one’s first year is a good or bad thing. 1l Valentina found her ‘cast a wide net’ strategy for finding a summer job wasn’t as effective as a more targeted search. Miami ’12 Goateed 1L suited up for moot court. NYU ’12 IDWSJ faced a literal half-marathon and a figurative full marathon. 1L Esquire recounted the fun times she had over break, from decadent meals in Atlantic City to drunken pancakes in Pittsburgh. NCCU ’12 TDOT shared his spring semester schedule. 1L No Reins Girl shared a few law school observations and expressed awe over her classmates who balance school, work and single parenthood. Chapman ’12 Julie Ann enjoyed her three weeks of relaxation, but was ready for her second semester to begin. Columbia ’12 Soleil continued to battle with a mouse in her apartment and looked forward to classes recommencing.
Iowa ’11 Laura was not attending the Association of American Law Schools Conference, but wished she was. Harvard ’11 Cat enjoyed her winter term and shared some of her favorite spots in Cambridge. John Marshall ’11 Huma found herself frustrated that many don’t understand that lawyers have specialties. 2L New Law Mom, though a little tired, was pleased with the process of preparing for National Appellate Advocacy Competition. 2L Lisslo began to consider her future job possibilities in a more concrete manner, and found it a bit daunting. While waiting for a new family member to arrive, 2L Googiebaba went to a tattoo parlor.
3L I’m Nobody described the law school lifestyle as “throw on jeans, listen to smart people talk, read some things, think some things, change into sweats, repeat.” Though she had the gear, 3L (In)Sanity Gal had a bit of fear about her upcoming ski trip in Vermont.
And that wraps up this week’s wander through the hallowed virtual halls of law school bloggers. We hope everyone’s semester started out strongly and that they enjoy this weekend! And remember, if you are a current law school applicant or student, just email bob@clearadmit.com to be included in our weekly roundup.
