Fridays From The Frontline

Well, hello there, and welcome to Fridays From The Frontline, Clear Admit’s weekly post featuring the latest news from the aspiring and current law student blogosphere. This week bloggers covered everything from swine flu to torts, providing all sorts of insight into the application, exam, internship and recruiting processes.

3L (In)Sanity Gal wished all her readers a meaningful Veterans Day. 3L I’m Nobody shared the first draft of his outline for a research paper, and it was not without humor. 2L Kel knew that all her extracurricular law school pursuits left very little time for coursework, but felt it was the only way to bolster her resume and asked what others were doing to stand out from the law school crowds. 2L Abbie found another female vocalist she could really appreciate.  2L Ivy Lea enjoyed a warm day outside, knowing that it would probably be one of the last Boston sees for quite some time.  Harvard ‘11 Cat found herself quite frustrated with the recruiting process and how her engagement ring factored into the number of internship offers she received. Yale ‘11 SB responded to Cat’s post with her own observations of how being a woman impacted her job search.  2L Huma brought a number of law-oriented links together for her readers, and was felled by Swine Flu. 2L BobBlah was tired of a number of things, including hearing about false cases of Swine Flu, misinterpretations of the constitution and a reliance on the phrase ‘in this economy.’ 2L NonTokenMinority dealt with a few job rejections and began to consider taking the Foreign Service exam. Minnesota ‘11 Jansen had a new tactic for dating during law school: say yes to everything. 2L Circumlocutions read and discussed two different statements about social media and the law. 2L The Exit saw the value of hipsters.

Austin ‘12 Mariel took a look back at her early note-taking experiences and found them lacking, but also found that her study habits and reading comprehension abilities have grown greatly since the first few weeks of class. Columbia ‘12 Soleil provided some advice to law school applicants. Northwestern ‘12 Jeremy attended a Goldman Sachs pitch presentation and outlined the reasons he agrees that lawyers make good private wealth managers. NYU ‘12 Anonymous Law Student felt that the stress of law school was nothing compared to preparing to search for summer jobs. NYU ‘12 Invisible Man had a few suggestions for future law students, such as making sure your professor knows your name and the fact that, sometimes, it may make sense to panic. Miami ‘12 Goateed 1L found that the attrition rate of his class was rather substantial.  NYU ‘12 I Don’t Wear Skinny Jeans worried that his blog might attract the ire of his future ConLaw professor. 1L Laughing wasn’t really laughing, having put together a list of things she thought sucked. 1L Alex expressed his undying love for his Torts Casebook in a letter. NYU ‘12  Reckless attended a panel at Columbia and ventured inside the law school’s library. North Carolina ‘12 TDot wasn’t entirely certain that his actions qualified him as a ‘gunner,’ but heard that others thought so.  And finally, law school hopeful  Legally Questionable saw at least a bit of humor in his case of flu.

And that concludes this week’s round up of the lives of future lawyers. As fall begins to fade, and winter gives us glimpses of what’s in store for us, we hope everyone puts their storm windows down, turns up the heat and locates their favorite woolen socks. Until next week, have a great weekend! And remember, if you’d like to be included in Fridays From The Frontline, just drop us an email (bob@clearadmit.com) with your blog link.
