Welcome to Fridays From the Frontline, Clear Admit’s weekly look into the b-school blogosphere. This week most student bloggers were relatively quiet while applicants felt things heating up.

Yours Truly checked in to let his readers know that he had received a “decent” GMAT score and planned to change the scope of his blog away from GMAT prep and toward the application process.  Motown attempted to determine which round was the right round for her to apply to b-schools.  Unfathomable introduced his ‘project inception’ idea. Night Owl gave a few pointers to those who might be visiting Wharton and the city of Philadelphia. Hi there and welcome to Fridays From the Frontline, Clear Admit’s weekly blog post focused on tracking the progress of b-school applicant and student bloggers. This week many applicants shifted their focus from strictly GMAT-related concerns to other elements of the MBA application process.

Ms. HR loved lists and shared her MBA-specific checklist. My MBA Dreamz contributed a number of new posts this week, including Wharton’s 2011-2012 essay topics. Night Owl reviewed Clear Admit and Beat the GMAT’s new online video series and was giving away two subscriptions for the reader who answered an essay prompt about truth and dreams.   Rolipolli provided a template for a novel approach to rejection letters. During an illness Kruthika turned to the Economist for consolation and rest. Top MBA Blog only had one week left before sitting for the GMAT. A. compiled the list of questions asked to him during his Rotterdam interview.

Johnson ’13 Ellipser planned his goodbye party and allowed the reality of his impending separation from friends to soak in. Harvard ’13 Parker reminded applicants that the GMAT is just one piece of their application … and that the show goes on. Anderson ‘13 Random Wok also reviewed Clear Admit and Beat the GMAT’s new video courses.

NYU ’12 Nistha announced she was taking a break from her studies in favor of firsthand work experience. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy wrote a post specifically so he could share an inspiring video about leadership. INSEAD ’11 V. explained the importance of staying fed during an internship.  Fuqua ’12 Vince reflected on how the world is shrinking. MIT ’13 Paul expressed frustration in his financial aid office’s technology transitioning growing pains.

This week applicants continued their preparation for the upcoming application season while current students covered a variety of topics in their most recent posts.

Yours Truly felt confident about his preparation for one part of the GMAT but continued to work on sentence correction. Kruthika was also focusing on sentence correction. Motown summarized a recent interview she had with a current Johnson student.  Unfathomable was one of 120 to attend an ISB information session, and shared his takeaways from the event. Night Owl hoped for the best after being put on Kellogg’s summer waitlist. Rolipolli shared a few funny images of how not to do mathematical equations. Top MBA linked to a recent Tuck post about reapplying to their program. Just Ship decided against attending business school and explained why.

Harvard ’13 Parker turned 25 and set off fireworks to celebrate. Anderson ’13 Random Wok wrote of his experience being unemployed and struggling with serious health concerns.

Darden ’12 Jonathan lunched with a CEO. IMD ’11 Howie, his wife and in-laws visited the town of Gruyere and saw a fair amount of cheese … not to mention an alien or two. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy considered reasons a JD/MBA student might ultimately enter the legal field. INSEAD ’11 V. was momentarily distracted by a quotation, but refocused on his exams. Fuqua ’12 Dots not Feathers titled his recent post “MBA in the time of Economic Cholera” and apologized to Gabriel Garcia Marquez for appropriating the title.

Ellipser thanked his MLT family for all their support. Ms. HR shared the highlights of a conversation she had with a recent Stern graduate. Parker returned from her Nicaraguan adventures and began to focus her attentions to b-school applications. MyMBADreamz continued to take practice tests in preparation for the GMAT. Kruthika also moved forward with his GMAT studies, focusing on combinatronics. Sanket decided to apply to schools in rounds 1 and 2. Random Wok wrote about his experiences of and perspectives on management consulting. Rolipolli weighed in on the Apple vs. Google fight to take over the world.

NYU ’12 Nistha provided advice to her readers about how to go about getting an internship with a startup. IMD ’11 Howie finished up exams and enjoyed a weekend of liberation. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy discussed what many of his classmates were doing this summer and looked forward to starting one of his summer jobs. LBS ’12 mbahut completed his first year of b-school and shared his philosophy on exams. MIT ’12 Paul explained why sometimes failure is a good thing.

Hello there and welcome to another edition of Fridays From the Frontline! This week those just starting their application experience focused predominantly on GMAT study while newly crowned members of the class of 2013 continued to prepare themselves for the changes they would soon go through. Meanwhile, current students attended conferences and prepared for the last weeks of their b-school careers.

Carl Incognito shared his approach to studying for the AWA section of the GMAT. Ellipser listed the outcomes of 17 friends’ b-school applications and reminded those on the waitlist to hold on just a little longer. J.M. said yes to Fuqua but then had to deal with getting off of Ross’ waitlist and a tempting fellowship offer from Anderson. Just Ship attempted to channel all the optimism he could muster into his continued position on Chicago Booth’s waitlist. Unfathomable was feeling good about his quant performance on practice GMAT tests. Pyarapopat was a little less happy with his GMAT prep results.

Darden ’12 Darden Poet found time to reflect on the lessons he learned over his first year of b-school. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy asked his readers how they would respond to an offensive comment or email. LBS ’12 mbahut shared his own thoughts on creativity in business education programs. INSEAD ’11 V. traveled to Cannes and saw a movie star or two.

Kellogg ’11 Shobhit encouraged everyone, especially minorities, to register as marrow donors. Haas ’11 Andrew felt better about his own tax preparation after considering how corporations ‘work’ the system. Kellogg ’11 D.G. sought to better understand the organization of the startup community in Chicago. Kellogg ’11 Orlando attended the Greater China Business Conference, which was the last Kellogg conference of the year.
