Carl Incognito spoke with a dear friend and created a 7-8 year ‘bucket list’ of places he would like to visit. Motown responded to a few questions about the consortium and MLT programs. KT lost five consecutive games of ping pong, and wasn’t happy about it. Sanket made progress with his GMAT studies while Kruthika completed his 29th day of GMAT prep. Night Owl recounted some things about her last application cycle that she planned on doing differently this year. Rolipolli found motivation in a commencement speech by Steve Jobs. The Phoenix rescheduled his GMAT test date in order to gain extra time to study. The Log received a zap from ISB, but planned on taking advantage of their offer to give feedback.

This week many applicants shifted their focus from strictly GMAT-related concerns to other elements of the MBA application process.
Ms. HR loved lists and shared her MBA-specific checklist. My MBA Dreamz contributed a number of new posts this week, including Wharton’s 2011-2012 essay topics. Night Owl reviewed Clear Admit and Beat the GMAT’s new online video series and was giving away two subscriptions for the reader who answered an essay prompt about truth and dreams. Rolipolli provided a template for a novel approach to rejection letters. During an illness Kruthika turned to the Economist for consolation and rest. Top MBA Blog only had one week left before sitting for the GMAT. A. compiled the list of questions asked to him during his Rotterdam interview.
Johnson ’13 Ellipser planned his goodbye party and allowed the reality of his impending separation from friends to soak in. Harvard ’13 Parker reminded applicants that the GMAT is just one piece of their application … and that the show goes on. Anderson ‘13 Random Wok also reviewed Clear Admit and Beat the GMAT’s new video courses.
NYU ’12 Nistha announced she was taking a break from her studies in favor of firsthand work experience. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy wrote a post specifically so he could share an inspiring video about leadership. INSEAD ’11 V. explained the importance of staying fed during an internship. Fuqua ’12 Vince reflected on how the world is shrinking. MIT ’13 Paul expressed frustration in his financial aid office’s technology transitioning growing pains.

This week in our ongoing pursuit of the latest news and experiences of MBA bloggers continued to be chock full of applicants preparing for their GMAT judgment days, soon-to-be students enjoying their last days and current students picking up new lingo and traveling to new locations.
Motown posted the essays for Ross this year and encouraged readers to share their thoughts on the questions. My MBA Dreamz began to take weekly tests in order to get accustomed to sitting for the GMAT. Night Owl found an inspiring video that would hopefully help him stay creative during the editing process. Rolipolli shared some interesting alternative meanings for MBA. Pyarapopat struggled with the concept of safety schools. Kruthika had a little help when it came to mastering geometry for the GMAT.

This week applicants continued their preparation for the upcoming application season while current students covered a variety of topics in their most recent posts.
Yours Truly felt confident about his preparation for one part of the GMAT but continued to work on sentence correction. Kruthika was also focusing on sentence correction. Motown summarized a recent interview she had with a current Johnson student. Unfathomable was one of 120 to attend an ISB information session, and shared his takeaways from the event. Night Owl hoped for the best after being put on Kellogg’s summer waitlist. Rolipolli shared a few funny images of how not to do mathematical equations. Top MBA linked to a recent Tuck post about reapplying to their program. Just Ship decided against attending business school and explained why.
Harvard ’13 Parker turned 25 and set off fireworks to celebrate. Anderson ’13 Random Wok wrote of his experience being unemployed and struggling with serious health concerns.
Darden ’12 Jonathan lunched with a CEO. IMD ’11 Howie, his wife and in-laws visited the town of Gruyere and saw a fair amount of cheese … not to mention an alien or two. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy considered reasons a JD/MBA student might ultimately enter the legal field. INSEAD ’11 V. was momentarily distracted by a quotation, but refocused on his exams. Fuqua ’12 Dots not Feathers titled his recent post “MBA in the time of Economic Cholera” and apologized to Gabriel Garcia Marquez for appropriating the title.

Carl Incognito reviewed the different GMAT prep materials he used before taking his exam. Yours Truly planned to slice the GMAT ‘s questions to pieces like a ‘smooth criminal.’ Though classes were not in session, Mads Mom visited Wharton’s campus and shared some photographs. MyMBADreamz gained confidence for the GMAT through his work studying for the LSAT. Sanket elaborated on his visualization techniques and how he applied them to the GMAT. Nightowl took a mental vacation after completing an accounting course. Rolipolli found motivation in a recent Barnard commencement speech. Top MBA provided 40 tips on how to prepare for the upcoming application cycle. Just Ship assured his readers that he was ‘still here,’ and promised to update his blog to reflect his choice of staying on a waitlist or enrolling in the school that accepted him. Kruthika sought out others who planned to attend ISB’s Chennai info session.

This week most members of the class of ’11 were moving on with degrees in hand, while first years looked to their summer internships and applicants began thinking strategy.
Ellipser thanked his MLT family for all their support. Ms. HR shared the highlights of a conversation she had with a recent Stern graduate. Parker returned from her Nicaraguan adventures and began to focus her attentions to b-school applications. MyMBADreamz continued to take practice tests in preparation for the GMAT. Kruthika also moved forward with his GMAT studies, focusing on combinatronics. Sanket decided to apply to schools in rounds 1 and 2. Random Wok wrote about his experiences of and perspectives on management consulting. Rolipolli weighed in on the Apple vs. Google fight to take over the world.
NYU ’12 Nistha provided advice to her readers about how to go about getting an internship with a startup. IMD ’11 Howie finished up exams and enjoyed a weekend of liberation. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy discussed what many of his classmates were doing this summer and looked forward to starting one of his summer jobs. LBS ’12 mbahut completed his first year of b-school and shared his philosophy on exams. MIT ’12 Paul explained why sometimes failure is a good thing.

Posted in: Fridays from the Frontline Hello there and welcome to the latest edition of Fridays From the Frontline, Clear Admit’s weekly wander through the hallowed cyber halls of the b-school blogosphere. This week current students were wrapping up their semesters while aspirants were in different stages of readiness for the 2011-2012 application cycle. Carl Incognito finally took the GMAT and discussed the process and the resulting 770 score. Pyarapopat also took the GMAT and scored just a little below Carl. Yours Truly submitted his Reliance Stanford Scholarship application and had 32 days remaining before taking the GMAT. Ellipser was busy as a bee as he prepared for his arrival on Cornell’s campus. Motown realized that June was the beginning of the application season and began to really think about how she wanted to present herself. MBA Adventurer tackled the topic of work/life balance through photographs, at one point suggesting that hugging a baby will help make everything become better. Unfathomable crossed his fingers and hoped to be a recipient of the Beat the GMAT scholarship awards. Rolipolli won a Clear Admit guide through Twitter. Kruthika was in his 16th day of GMAT study prep. MyMBADreamz prepared for both the GMAT and the LSAT.
Columbia ’12 Praz wrote about his first week of his internship at American Express. Darden ’12 Darden Poet returned to Charlottesville to celebrate his fifth year college reunion. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy focused his latest post on his entrepreneurial finance course. INSEAD ’11 V. shared a video he made that encapsulated the challenges and determination he has faced at the school thus far.
Kellogg ’11 D.G. found himself in his last week of classes. BU ’11 Felish failed to make fried rice, but made some tasty mush. Harvard ’12 Military to Business addressed the question of what it’s like to serve in the National Guard while attending b-school. From the look of his latest photograph, Kellogg ’11 Orlando had completed all there was to complete.

Random Wok discussed some of the advantages of being a California resident if you plan on going to Anderson. Pyarapopat broke the 750 mark on his GMAT prep tests. Kruthika took a short break from GMAT prep to watch a romantic comedy. Yours Truly expressed interest in the profiles of incoming students at ISB. MBAdventure embraced social media.

Darden ’12 Lily adjusted to the real world and couch surfed. INSEAD ’11 V. reflected on the international experience he had been enjoying over the last five months. MIT ’12 Paul caught up on some of the fall reading he hadn’t found time for.
Kellogg ’11 D.G. found himself in quite a busy ninth week of school and shared a few of his wishes. Darden ’11 Brilliantly Titled received the letter he wrote himself when he first started the program. As the quarter progressed, Kellogg ’11 Orlando found himself with no further reading assignments. Darden ’11 Julie graduated!

Hello there and welcome to another edition of Fridays From the Frontline! This week those just starting their application experience focused predominantly on GMAT study while newly crowned members of the class of 2013 continued to prepare themselves for the changes they would soon go through. Meanwhile, current students attended conferences and prepared for the last weeks of their b-school careers.
Carl Incognito shared his approach to studying for the AWA section of the GMAT. Ellipser listed the outcomes of 17 friends’ b-school applications and reminded those on the waitlist to hold on just a little longer. J.M. said yes to Fuqua but then had to deal with getting off of Ross’ waitlist and a tempting fellowship offer from Anderson. Just Ship attempted to channel all the optimism he could muster into his continued position on Chicago Booth’s waitlist. Unfathomable was feeling good about his quant performance on practice GMAT tests. Pyarapopat was a little less happy with his GMAT prep results.
Darden ’12 Darden Poet found time to reflect on the lessons he learned over his first year of b-school. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy asked his readers how they would respond to an offensive comment or email. LBS ’12 mbahut shared his own thoughts on creativity in business education programs. INSEAD ’11 V. traveled to Cannes and saw a movie star or two.
Kellogg ’11 Shobhit encouraged everyone, especially minorities, to register as marrow donors. Haas ’11 Andrew felt better about his own tax preparation after considering how corporations ‘work’ the system. Kellogg ’11 D.G. sought to better understand the organization of the startup community in Chicago. Kellogg ’11 Orlando attended the Greater China Business Conference, which was the last Kellogg conference of the year.

Mukul shared the successful admission story of a friend who is on their way to MIT. Unfathomable was haunted by the Stanford ‘What Matters Most’ essay. Random Wok received a waitlist spot from Wharton. Rolipolli created a list of movies about business. Silent Warrior kept the faith. A disappointing GMAT practice test inspired Pyarapopat to create a ‘bucket list,’ which included actions such as sky diving and visiting the Grand Canyon.

Earlier this morning we shared the results of this year’s Best of Blogging competition with our readers, now you can read more from the whole of the FFF community. This week many a second year student began to count the weeks or days left in their b-school experience, while first year students and applicants touched on topics that ranged from GMAT study to hats.
Carl Incognito allotted himself a certain number of hours for everything from GMAT prep to intramural sports, which left him with 60-65 hours a week for sleep/rest. BoB winner Ellipser dedicated his latest post to those still on the waitlist. Motown interviewed three Kellogg students and was convinced of the school’s potential. Zaphod linked to his new GMAT study prep video channel on youtube. MissionGMAT took the GMAT but sadly reported that his score did not result in an accomplished mission. A. encouraged new applicants to ask themselves why they want an MBA. Nick received an invitation to apply to MIT’s Supply Chain Management Program. Unfathomable apologized for his blog silence, thanked Clear Admit for his BoB nomination and talked a bit about his essay writing process. Random Wok informed his readers that the Beat the GMAT Scholarship applications were now open.

The purpose of the BoBs is simple: to identify and celebrate the applicant and student bloggers who have shared their lives with the online MBA community over the last year.
