Kellogg ’11 Orlando continued his internship, took part in his mid-summer review, identified areas he’d like to improve upon and went golfing. Boston ’11 Felish shared one of her favorite rainy day mac n’ cheese recipes. Kellogg ’11 Shobhit went to a team learning session at McKinsey and picked up a few insights. Harvard ’11 Military to Business divided private sector careers into three categories and asked his readers what they would do. McDonough ’11  Part-Timer felt pleasantly surprised by certain grades he received and looked forward to a vacation in Barbados. Darden ’11 Julie saw new faces arriving in Charlottesville and looked back on where she was in her b-school life a year ago. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy provided a few pointers on how to approach one’s short- and long-term goals.

Darden ’12 LegalMBAyhem stumbled upon a list of MBA/JD graduates on Wikipedia, but didn’t see her school represented. Columbia‘ 12 Praz and his wife decided to take advantage of their jobless-until-Columbia-starts state and do some traveling, though still keeping in mind theirfuture career steps. ’12 Nistha also did a bit of traveling, visiting India’s Rann of Kutch. IMD ’11 Howie followed the IMD bloggers currently wrapping up their school experience and could hardly wait to begin his own journey. INSEAD ’11 The Journey also felt increased excitement for his arrival on campus in three weeks, though French visa bureaucracy and laptop choices did keep his mind occupied. Tepper ’12 Madhurya wrote her last post from India, as she was soon to be on a plane to Pittsburgh. ’12 Classy Career Girl discussed the many benefits of ‘being present.’

Kellogg ’11 Shobhit looked back on his career path and wondered if it was best to consider it a straight line or a hyperbolic paraboloid. BU ’11 Felish shared how being a non-traditional MBA student with a background in English and French initially caused her fear, but that through bonding with her b-school peers that anxiety went away. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy responded to a reader’s question about how to approach someone to ask for a reference or recommendation. Darden ’11 Julie initially had her doubts about Detroit, but she began to see some of its charms. Kellogg ’11 Orlando found that his bidding process for fall courses didn’t work out quite how he liked, but adjusted his methods for the second round of bidding.

Kellogg ’11 Orlando and a fellow intern tried their hands and shooting clay pigeons while wearing work clothes with a modicum of success. Boston ’11 Felish checked in and gave a brief summary of her summer activities, which ranged from work to trips to Maine and Philadelphia. Kellogg ’11 Shobhit looked back on his first month of being a summer associate at McKinsey. Haas ’11 Lauren broke her ‘radio silence’ to post a painting she recently made for a friend’s wedding, and promised a post on marathons in the future. Darden ’11 Julie watched Good Morning America, which prompted her to remind her readers to ‘always be ready.’ Kellogg ’11 Jeremy responded to a reader’s question about transferring into the school’s JD/MBA program.

Tepper ’12 Madhurya admitted her techie tendencies and expressed enthusiasm over her new Thinkpad. INSEAD ’12 The Journey shared photographs from the May open house event he attended at the school. After a few weeks of presentations, Kellogg ’12 Jeremy was able to give a number of helpful pointers to those individuals with less presentation experience.

Kellogg ’11 Orlando reviewed his second week of interning and declared this his summer of gratitude.  McDonough ’11 Part-Timer planned to enjoy his two month vacation now that his first year was, according to his personal calendar, finally behind him. Kellogg ’11 DG fought bad health with AC/DC and reflected on how all his past work experience came in handy during his current internship. Classy Career Girl returned from a vacation and learned that some stress makes you smarter. Darden ’11 Julie realized just how reliant she was on technology when a storm in Charlottesville resulted in a black out.

Sh00nya read a helpful article that got her thinking about the traits admissions committees look for in MBA applicants. Ellipses had a conversation with a coworker that got him thinking about the benefits of an MBA degree. MBAYogi laid out a study plan to help him achieve his desired score on the GMAT.  A. weighed the pros and cons of both one-year and two-year MBA programs, and also expressed enthusiasm for the advice offered by Clear Admit counselors during an online chat. Miles to MBA celebrated a recent victory in a Clear Admit Twitter competition. KT celebrated the fact that he has received a TOEFL waiver from all of his R1 target schools. INSEAD Journeyer explained the events that take place the day before Open Day Weekend. Howie submitted essays that could help him obtain a scholarship, and was pleased to see that they had made it through Round One. A Beautiful Mind explained that his recent absence was due to busyness, including winding up his job and receiving his student VISA.

Tepper ’12 Madalogue celebrated the fact that she has finally received her U.S. VISA. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy connected with a few career bloggers in Chicago. Kellogg ’11 Orlando broke down the costs associated with his first year of business school.  Darden ’11 Julie celebrated Father’s Day thanked her father for his support. Kellogg ’11 Shobit posted a video detailing the benefits of joining the school’s Startup Leadership Program. McDonough ’11 Part-Timer lamented the demanding nature of his summer term courses. Rocky recently announced his plans to join the Babson Class of 2012 and was excited to select a fellowship assignment.

Fuqua ’10 Randy recapped the experience he has had while visiting Shanghai. McCombs ’10 Metal discussed the fact that, despite having lived in the U.S. for two years, he is still prone to culture shock. Darden ’10 July Dream discussed the challenges associated with moving to a new city. Darden ’10 Mechanigal looked ahead at her rapidly approaching move away from C’ville.

Boston ’11 Felish felt the burn after an early morning boot camp. Kellogg ’11 Orlando escaped a cubicle in his new Dallas internship digs, and hoped to be able to fight the irresistible draw of peanut M&Ms by the office’s nearby kitchen. Rady ’11 Career Girl found inspiration in her brother’s career path and realized the importance of doing what you love. Darden ’11 Julie shed her tourist trappings and experienced a slightly more authentic and down-to-earth version of New York City. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy met up with an old friend at an event her company sponsored, and discussed the inspiration to be gained by entrepreneurs.

Darden ’10 July Dream adjusted to corporate housing and figuring out what one does with one’s trash in a hotel. McCombs ’10 Metal returned from his road trip with plans to pick up and depart from Austin more permanently. And, finally, Fuqua ’10 Randy ate a chicken foot.

Kellogg ’12 Jeremy attended two conferences and considered the reasons why people he met at the events didn’t ‘follow up.’ Darden ’11 Brilliantly Titled spent more than a week in Hawaii and explained how he chose to come to Darden. Kellogg ’11 Orlando reflected on his latest marketing team project, which was successful in part due to great Thai food and Gypsy dance music. McDonough Part-Timer visited friends in the country, which prompted him to consider how herding sheep is like managing people. Darden ’11 Julie felt herself becoming a burgeoning foodie after reading a Michael Pollan book.

Harvard ’10 Gabrielle graduated, which included seeing (but not hearing) Meryl Streep from afar and then encouraged readers to follow her to her post-MBA blog. Darden ’10 July Dream credited Darden for her increased levels of confidence.

Kellogg ’11 Windsor announced the date of the school’s 2011 Private Equity/Venture Capital Conference. Darden ’11 Julie worked late for her internship and wished she had air conditioning. Kellogg ’11 Orlando created a new word to encapsulate how he felt about his summer internship: nervoxcited. Classy Career Girl found the insights a recent speaker provided at a Professional Seminar quite resonant to her own managerial philosophy. McDonough ’11 Part-Timer read the majority of The Four-Hour Work Week and shared his thoughts on the book.

Darden ’10 Mechanigal toured Charlottesville for the last time with her parents, and expressed appreciation for her classmates.  With school pretty much wrapped up McCombs ’10 Metal began to think about marriage. Fuqua ’10 Randy answered readers’ questions about the school, from technology to career placement.

Kellogg ’12 Jeremy knew that making small talk at networking conferences can be difficult for everyone, and compiled  a great list of suggestions on how to bolster yourself while remaining professional. Fuqua ’11 Choc Heave also had thoughts on networking, and identified three different kinds of networking techniques. Harvard ’11 Military to Business celebrated the end of five days’ worth of five-hour exams with a dinner with his section mates then clubbing with over 300 fellow Harvard students. Kellogg ’11 Shobhit posted videos from his recent Nuvention course. McDonough ’11 Part-Timer went to his second summer Introduction to Marketing class. Kellogg ’11 Orlando found time in his schedule to go and see Simon Johnson speak for the Kellogg Distinguished Speaker series. Rady ’11 Classy Career Girl considered what she would do if she couldn’t fail. Darden ’11 Julie was filled with bliss over her internship.

Darden ’10 Oren shared some of the weather fears the school had for graduation, but didn’t report on the final outcome.  Though Oren left his readers hanging, Darden ’10 Mechanigal made it clear that graduation was held outside.  Harvard ’10 Gabrielle enjoyed graduation week and included a run-down of all her favorite memories from the last two years. Darden ’10 July Dream graduated and, after one night of celebration, packed her car and headed to Kentucky. McCombs ’10 Metal couldn’t decide whether to take a road trip before starting his new job or to enjoy his last days in Austin without the added stresses of a long-distance vacation.

Kellogg ’11 Orlando felt the flood of work rise and pinpointed two reasons group projects can be difficult. Stanford ’11 Palo Alto for a While checked things off her list, like securing an internship and alienating her academic advisor. Fuqua ’11 Choc Heaven celebrated the completion of her first year and chose her internship search as the subject of her newest post. Rady ’11 Classy Career Gal juggled away. McDonough ’11 Part-Timer began his summer course on Business and Public Policy. Darden ’11 Julie learned a few lessons on her first internship day at a start-up, such as ‘wear flats.’ Kellogg ’12 Jeremy replied to a reader’s question about the best undergraduate degree path if one’s ultimate goal is to become a CEO.

Darden ’10 Mechanigal participated in a “Charlottesville Goodbye Tour.” McCombs ’10 Metal secured a job that he was actually excited to have. Melbourne ’10 Ron Jon finally starting using the first person but planned on taking down his blog entirely on the first of June. Fuqua ’10 Ian Commando created a completely unofficial Fuqua guide to Shanghai.
