INSEAD to Celebrate Women with a Month Full of Events

To mark Women’s History Month, INSEAD has filled March with a string of events celebrating women and showcasing their achievements on its campuses in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and beyond.

INSEAD’s first women’s event is a speaker session entitled, “Women @ Work.” The event will take place later this week, on Thursday, March 3rd on INSEAD’s Asia campus in Singapore. Claudia Zeisberger, academic director of INSEAD’s Global Private Equity Initiative (GPEI) and an affiliate professor of decision sciences and entrepreneurship and family enterprise, will lead the discussion examining women’s journey in the workplace from the sideline to center field. A networking event will follow.

Also this week, on INSEAD’s Abu Dhabi campus, a half-day forum entitled “إNSPIRE إMPACT إMPOWER” will draw together women leaders from throughout the Middle East to share how they have left their imprint in business, politics, sports and the arts.

Later this month, INSEAD will also feature a senior alumni breakfast series at McKinsey & Co. in Singapore. Part of a quarterly program of roundtable discussions presented by senior alumni for their peers, this event will be led by Ripa Rashid MBA’00D, and will focus on how women are the solution for winning the war for talent in emerging markets.

Meanwhile, on INSEAD’s European campus in Fontainebleau, France, a film screening on March 14th will turn the spotlight on the media for its representation of women. The film, called “Miss Representation,” examines the ways the media shapes cultural norms – and the fact that the message it overwhelmingly sends is still one suggesting that a women’s power and value lie in her youth, appearance and sexuality, rather than in her capacity as a leader.
