Fridays From the Frontline
Aug 31, 2012 | 0 comments
Hello and welcome to Fridays From the Frontline! Each week Clear Admit investigates the latest happenings in the MBA blogosphere and rounds it up for our readers. This week found a number of students arriving to campus for the first time, or returning after a summer elsewhere.
With a new application season heating up, we’re sure there are additional applicant bloggers sharing their experiences with an internet audience, and we’d certainly like to start following them … so let us know if you are one such blogger. This week, however, found only one applicant checking in. Sassafrass compared b-school essays to runway models.
Tepper ’14 Ccatcher had a few moments of panic when she first arrived in the States, including twice misplacing her I20 visa! Wharton ’14 Motown had one primary piece of advice to applicants writing their essays: be specific. McCombs ’14 Dan participated in the Cohort Olympics. Anderson ’14 Ashley went on a camping trip with fellow first years, and explained why going on such a journey with strangers was a great way to start business school.
Johnson ’13 Ellipser outlined his early exposure to startups before discussing his decision to create his own startup company. Kellogg ’13 Night Owl watched the Class of 2012 graduate and discussed the bidding process for fall courses. Ross ’13 Becky reflected on staying in Michigan for her summer internship and found that it was actually pretty great. Tepper ’13 Julianne enjoyed interacting with arriving first year students and was touched by how enthusiastic they all were. INSEAD ’12 Victor flew to Silicon Valley for a business trek.
And that’s a wrap for this week’s installment of Fridays From the Frontline. We hope first year students’ orientation experiences help them settle into their new community, and that second year students are prepared for their final year in b-school. Until next week, have a great weekend!
