News, advice and resources for business school applicants

Fridays From the Frontline

Hello and welcome to Fridays From the Frontline, Clear Admit’s weekly round-up of voices from the the b-school blogosphere.  This week features some exciting posts as applicants move deeper into the MBA admissions process and many students prepare to either return to school or kick off their MBA studies for the first time.

This week, MBAOverThirty gets some unusually personal “face-time” with admissions officers at an admissions event in Los Angeles.  Sassafras uses “The Princess and the Pea” as a metaphor for the MBA application process and recounts his own experience at an admissions event in San Fransisco.  Unclear discusses India’s performance in the Olympics and essay drafts. Asax gives tips for how to “Write like an Expert!” and links to upcoming webinars where applicants can get expert advice on essays for specific schools.  Clear Admit’s Stacey Oyler is among the experts listed: make sure to check out her presentation for Tuck’s essay set on August 30th!

Anderson’s bloggers in the class of 2014 talk about packing up for school (literally). Kate ’14, a longtime New Yorker, muses about making the transition to the West coast, while Ann ’14 recaps her last weeks in Hawaii and her MBA math nightmares.  Meanwhile, Anderson ’14 Gregory concludes his trip to Japan and ’14 Dwight talks about how much hard work goes into getting ready for business school.

INSEAD ’13 Suhaib evaluates how well he’s achieved his major objectives at business school.  Amazingly, he’s visited 13 countries in the 7 months since he began his studies at INSEAD in January.  Finally, Cornell ’13 Ellipser talks start-up pay vs. finance pay, and loses some sympathy for b-school finance friends, even those working 100 hours weeks!

That’s it for this week’s Fridays From the Frontline.  Good luck to everyone starting their application essays, and to everyone heading off to school! Until next week, have a great weekend.
