Clear Admit Welcomes New Admissions Counselor from University of Chicago Booth School of Business
Aug 3, 2012 | 0 comments
Clear Admit is pleased to welcome a new Admissions Counselor to our team of experts. Heidi Granner, an alumnus of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, brings a mix of consulting, recruiting and MBA admissions experience sure to benefit prospective business school applicants targeting top MBA programs.
Heidi, who graduated from Chicago Booth in 2007, was selected to serve as part of the school’s admissions team as a second-year student there, working under then-Admissions Director Rose Martinelli. She received extensive training, and while there she evaluated more than 160 applications and interviewed more than 30 candidates. Upon graduation, she remained involved with Chicago Booth admissions, serving as an alumni interviewer.
From Booth, Heidi went on to work as a Consultant and Project Leader for Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in Chicago and as a Director of Strategy for Los Angeles‒based food and beverage company Roll Global, which manufactures and markets well-known products like POM Wonderful, Cuties Clementines and FIJI Water. Heavily involved in recruiting at both BCG and Roll Global, she brings with her to Clear Admit valuable insight regarding what post-MBA employers are seeking when they hire. She’s also excited to leverage her consulting and internal strategy experience to help differentiate applicants coming from or interested in those careers.
Why the shift toward MBA admissions consulting now? “I always enjoyed the feedback and coaching aspect of management consulting, so I wanted to leverage those skills in a new role where one-on-one coaching and relationships are the primary focus,” she says. She so enjoyed her admissions work at Booth that she has done part-time pro bono admissions coaching ever since, helping applicants gain acceptance to programs including Harvard, Stanford, Wharton and Chicago Booth.
“I strongly believe in the value proposition of the business school experience and am excited about helping others realize that dream,” she says. She was drawn to Clear Admit because she was impressed by the firm’s credibility in the marketplace and because of the actual admissions evaluation experience across the team.
When not helping prospective applicants prepare the strongest possible applications for their target top-tier business schools, Heidi volunteers as a resume editor and mock interviewer for Chrysalis, a non-profit focused on helping low-income and homeless individuals find jobs. She is also an avid golfer, continuing from her days when she placed at the state level in high school in Texas. And true to her Alaskan roots, she loves all things outdoors, from hiking and camping to skiing and ice skating.
We are thrilled to welcome Heidi and pleased to add first-person Chicago Booth admissions office expertise to our roster, which includes graduates and former admissions officers of several of the world’s leading business schools, including Columbia, Stanford, Tuck and Wharton. If you are interested in speaking with Heidi or any of our counselors about your MBA application strategy, contact Clear Admit by emailing us your resume.
