Trivia Tuesday: The Texas Venture Labs at McCombs

Welcome to our newest edition of Trivia Tuesday, in which we profile the program elements that differentiate the leading business schools from their peers. Today we’re taking a look into the Clear Admit School Guide to McCombs to share with you an excerpt about the school’s Texas Venture Labs program.

“Founded in March 2010, Texas Venture Labs is a campus-wide program that facilitates the process of launching a business for students with entrepreneurial ideas. The aim of the program is to offer budding entrepreneurs a faster, step-by-step way to initiate their ideas and bring them to market. By providing students with access to entrepreneurial, business, technological and legal resources, the labs support new student-run enterprises and innovation as well as creating a distinctive learning experience for participants. As part of Venture Labs, students receive extensive mentoring services and detailed validation of their business plans, as well as participating in team-building and networking events.

“To enter the Texas Venture Labs program, students must first fill out an extensive online application laying out their business proposals and identifying the stage of development that most closely fits their proposed venture. Once an application has been submitted, it is assessed by an advisory board of outside experts, investors and entrepreneurs. If the advisory board approves an idea, they will contact the applicants and help them create a plan to begin work.”
