Yale School of Management Expands Pre-MBA Leadership Program to Global Participants
The Yale School of Management (SOM) this year will welcome undergraduate students from around the world to its summer pre-MBA leadership program, the school announced this week. Since its launch in 2009, the two-week program has focused on introducing U.S. students from populations typically under-represented in management education to the fundamentals of an MBA degree. Recently renamed the Global Pre-MBA Leadership Program, it will now also include students from universities in Brazil, China, Ghana, Indonesia, Mexico and Singapore.
The program is open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as recent graduates. Last summer, with support from Goldman Sachs Gives, Yale SOM expanded the program to include students from two universities in Brazil.
This year, with more support from Goldman Sachs Gives, the program will expand to include students from schools that are part of the Global Network for Advanced Management, including Fudan University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Ghana, University of Indonesia, National University of Singapore, Renmin University of China and Tecnológico de Monterrey. Participants will also come from the two Brazilian schools included last year – University of São Paulo and Fundacão Getulio Vargas – as well as a third, Insper. Each of the participating schools have been invited to select two high-potential undergraduates to attend the program.
“Focusing on global diversity will enrich the program, meaningfully exposing both under-represented students from the U.S. and students from an interesting set of countries to the complexities within and between societies,” Yale SOM Dean Edward Snyder said in a statement. Snyder, who joined Yale SOM last July, has made increasing the school’s global focus a primary goal. “Providing students with an understanding of these complexities is critical in management education in today’s flatter, but non-convergent, world,” he added.
The program will take place on the Yale SOM campus from June 10th through 23rd.
