Wiki Wednesdays: Submit an MBA Interview Report from Stanford GSB, NYU / Stern, or UCLA / Anderson and Win a $10 Amazon Gift Card!

Welcome once again to Wiki Wednesdays, in which we review the newest MBA interview reports on the Clear Admit Wiki!  We’ve received a slew of interview reports this past week, including ones of interviews at Chicago / Booth, UNC / Kenan-Flagler, CMU / Tepper, and London Business School.  Today we’re featuring an interview report from a Round 2 applicant to Duke / Fuqua:

“Interview was with a second-year student on campus at Fuqua’s main facility. He assured me before the interview even started that it was going to be very conversational, mentioning that he had been in my shoes just two years earlier. The interview certainly went that way as it turned into much more of a conversation than anything else, as question responses that I gave often led to tangents that dug into both of our backgrounds/experiences. I don’t recall all of the questions he asked (he would take the pre-written list and modify them as he saw fit to better get the information he was looking for), and many of them are already reported in this wiki, but here are some:

  • Tell me about the decisions that went into selecting your university / walk me through your resume
  • Tell me about a time went you faced a challenge that you failed / what did you learn from it
  • Why an MBA?
  • Why Fuqua?
  • Why now?
  • How do you spend your time outside of work?
  • Tell me about a leadership experience
  • How would you contribute to Fuqua / what do you envision yourself getting involved in on campus?
  • What is your short-medium term career goal and why the change?

The setting was extremely comfortable, and it only helped that one of the first-year students was sitting in the waiting area with us, talking about his experiences and answering questions. It was important to be prepared to really speak to why Fuqua was the right fit, and in my case, why my age (24) would not hinder me from contributing to and benefitting the program and my peers.

I am currently awaiting a decision.”

The Clear Admit team thanks to everyone who has contributed to our wiki!  If you’re interested in sharing your experience, we’ll be awarding a $10 Amazon gift certificate to every applicant who submits an interview report for Stanford GSB, NYU / Stern, or UCLA / Anderson through next Tuesday, March 6th!  All you have to do is send us your interview field report for the selected schools for inclusion in the Wiki and we’ll send you a $10 Amazon gift certificate.  You must send your interview report to wiki@clearadmit.com to be eligible; we’ll post it to the Wiki and notify the winners by e-mail (Limit: one gift card per person).

The most helpful and informative reports usually include the following information:

  1. Date/Admissions Round
  2. Description of visit and/or interview atmosphere
  3. Type of interview (alum vs. adcom, blind vs. application-based)
  4. List of interview questions
  5. Commentary (What did you think of the interview? What surprised you? What didn’t surprise you? What might you conclude about the school based on this experience?)

Applicants who would like to supplement the information available on the Wiki can check out our Clear Admit Interview Guides, which provide school-specific insight about admissions interviews.  Best of luck in your interviews!
