Yale School of Management Hosts 7th Annual Healthcare Conference
Innovative strategies will be essential to overcoming the challenges facing the current U.S. healthcare system, and a conference scheduled later this week at the Yale School of Management (SOM) will focus on how to identify them.
The seventh annual Yale Healthcare Conference, presented by the Yale Healthcare and Life Sciences Club, will take place tomorrow, April 1st, at New Haven’s Omni Hotel. Entitled “The Change Imperative: Navigating the Post-Reform Era,” this year’s conference is expected to draw more than 400 healthcare professionals.
Carmen Hooker Odom, president of the Milbank Memorial Fund, a foundation that conducts nonpartisan analysis, study and research on significant issues in health policy, will present the morning keynote. Dr. Louis W. Sullivan, chairman of the board of the National Health Museum and former secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will present the closing address.
The conference also will feature an executive panel led by Dr. Robert Galvin, CEO of equity healthcare at the Blackstone Group, and more than a dozen breakout sessions on a range of topics, including the status of legal and political challenges to the Healthcare Act and the effect on reform implementation; physicians’ responses to cost and reimbursement changes and the financial effects of reform on hospitals and health systems, among others.
