I started studying for the GMAT 4 months before I took the test. After going through a few test prep books, I focused on my weakness--quant. Then, I started taking a practice test every two weeks. By the time I took the test, I felt prepared and at ease. I ended up scoring 10 points above my target score.

Even though I probably didn't need to start studying four months in advance, I became very familiar with the test and was less nervous on test day.
