Fridays From The Frontline

Hello there and welcome to Fridays From The Frontline, Clear Admit’s weekly trek through the the peaks and valleys of the MBA applicant, and student, landscape. This week many US-based applicants had a three day weekend in which to solidify particular applications before deadlines later in the week. Current students continue to find their lives packed full of academic and social obligations, some fun, some less so. With no further adieu, let’s take a look at what the b-school bloggers have been up to!

Steve
had quite a sports-heavy weekend, but also shared his class visit and interview at TuckABeautifulMind enjoyed a long weekend, and went on a road trip with a visiting friend, talked about his work with schoolchildren and even did a little work on his essays. XLick met up with a blog reader, and Stern first year, and left the conversation feeling more confident about his NYU application. AMBAGuy took the GMAT, accepted his score and was ready to go forward with his applications. BizWiz put his GMAT preparations, and his b-school applications, on hold in favor of getting his business up and running. Hari reflected on what makes a good b-school essay and shared his findings. Procrastinator was definitely getting a little overwhelmed by the essay writing process. RockyBalboa was finding writing his Fuqua essays just as difficult as his earlier applications.

INSEAD ’10 MBAMRS recapped her last few months, which included a minor consulting temptation, a lot of studying and beer in Munich. McCombs ’10 Paragon2Pieces learned how to make cheese straws. Darden ’10 Mechanigal was trying to keep the big picture in mind while dealing with job searches and boot camp. Harvard ’10 HarvardBound took her hand at branding. Darden ’10 JulyDream hoped that all the interviews she had over the past week will lead to an offer before she goes to Sweden for her third quarter. McCombs ’10 Metal had some dire predictions in mind for the coming year.

Foster ’11 Helen outlined a few things that b-school was leading her to do more, or less, of in her life. Kellogg ’12 Jeremy had a few words for applicants dealing with the school’s Thursday deadline. Kellogg ’11 D.G. hoped that his application for a grant from the Knight News Foundation would be successful. Harvard ’11 MilitaryToBusiness shared his thoughts about resume formatting.  Wake Forest Omne found October the most challenging of b-school months thus far in his b-school career, but was yet to crumble under the pressure. Stanford ’11 PaloAltoForAWhile was preparing for her guest professor, none other than Condoleeza Rice, and found fault in the school’s global trip policy. Haas ’11 SunnysideUp was very excited for an  upcoming conference on campus, and encouraged readers to attend.

And that’s all they wrote for this week’s installment of Fridays From The Frontline. We wish all applicants a moment of calm and relaxation before they move on to interviews, acceptances, zaps and … round two. For current students we hope that the increasing workload, exams, job searches and organziation commitments can be balanced so that you have time to sleep!
