Fridays From The Frontline

Welcome back to another addition of Fridays From The Frontline! Clear Admit has been hard at work finalizing the Best of Blogging nominee list for this year, but even that exciting an undertaking couldn’t sidetrack us from the important task of checking in on the entire MBA blogosphere. As the academic year continues to inch towards its completion, it’s no surprise that a certain amount of introspection abounded in this week’s round of posts.

Class of 2011 applicants continued to reflect on their application processes and impending futures. Helen refined her waitlist strategy and took stock of her relative fortune in light of the more serious events taking place in the world. The.Grey.One shared another method one can use to reach their goals. Samantha started working on her first application for a summer internship. D.G. found himself in the midst of dealing with his visa and making the most expensive phone call of his life. Ahembeea’s wife got a job outside of Chicago, which made him start thinking about the possibility of Kellogg. MBADreamer was settling into life at IIMB Bangalore and explained why he stuck with the school after receiving an offer from McCombs. TienyChesney enjoyed a DC-based accepted Columbia students’ happy hour, complete with a jaunt to a club and a Flirtation with a ‘senior cougar’. MissionMBA looked back on his GMAT prep and recorded his thoughts on the matter. Omne faced the additional decisions one must make after getting into school. PaloAltoForAwhile also was focusing on the few remaining steps needed to be taken, and provided tips for preparing for Stanford’s skill assessors. Alex explained the factors that went into his choice of LBS for his MBA education. The Teacher celebrated his wife’s recent graduation from business school as he prepared for his own entry into it.

Students were back in the swing of things on campuses across the country and globe. Darden ’10 Mechanigal joined many of her classmates in the Darden sponsored Building Goodness in April (BGiA) annual event, and helped spiff up a community member’s home. Ross’ Michigan Muzungus found themselves lost in translation with focus groups in Uganda and, though at times it seemed unlikely, managed to see gorillas in the wild. MCombs ’10 Metal had a plethora of possible parties to partake in, and found himself considering cost structures while tipsy in a movie theater. McCombs ’10 Paragon2Pieces shared her early registration choices for her law courses and shared the latest job news from McCombs. Darden ’10 Oren was a house captain for his BGiA group.

To balance out an earlier post, Harvard ’09 CS shared a number of examples of the benefits she has gotten from b-school. McDonough ’09 HairTwirler looked back at her grievances against 2nd year MBA bloggers in the past and, now that she is a second year blogger,  provided an explanation why she has been less prolific. Chicago Booth ’09 MaybeMBA explained the relative magic of an MBA.

And that’s this week’s round of revelations from the rousing business school blogosphere. We hope that bloggers, nominated or otherwise, continue to maintain and regularly post on their blogs,  filling us in with as much information and opinion as possible. Tune in next week for another fitfully fun fill of MBA bloggers’ news and information!
