News, advice and resources for business school applicants

Wiki Wednesdays: Submit a Report for Columbia Business School, MIT / Sloan, UNC / Kenan-Flagler or UCLA / Anderson, Receive $10 iTunes Gift Card!

Welcome to this week’s peek at the Clear Admit Wiki, an online repository of applicants’ experiences with the MBA admissions process.  A number of interview reports have rolled in recently for a host of schools, including Berkeley / Haas, Carnegie Mellon / Tepper, Cornell / Johnson, INSEAD, MIT / Sloan, Wharton and the Yale School of Management.  Before digging a bit deeper into a few of these reports, however, interviewing candidates should take note of the added incentive for contributing to the Wiki over the next week:

  1. Between now and next Tuesday, February 17th, the first 15 candidates that submit interview reports for Columbia Business School, MIT / Sloan, UNC / Kenan-Flagler or UCLA / Anderson will receive a $10 iTunes gift card! Even if you haven’t interviewed at these schools, every fifth piece of content (e.g. a school choices comparison, an interview report for a different school or a campus visit account) submitted for the Clear Admit Wiki will receive a $10 gift certificate to iTunes.  (Please note, to be eligible for a prize, content must be e-mailed to wiki@clearadmit.com. Limit: one gift card per person.)

With Round 2 interview invitations rolling out to Wharton applicants, let’s start with a closer look at the recent addition to the Wharton interview page in the Clear Admit Wiki.  One Round 1 candidate shared the following questions posed by an alumnus:

  1. Tell me about what you do.
  2. Tell me what your approach is for dealing with conflicts.
  3. Why Wharton?
  4. What kinds of activities do you want to get involved in at Wharton?

Swinging the spotlight over to INSEAD, a recent Round 2 September-intake applicant shared the following questions from the two interviews:

  1. How comfortable [are you] with [your] third language (French)?
  2. How many people report to [you] in [your] current job?
  3. What is a typical project?
  4. Which campus do [you] want to study on?
  5. What about INSEAD excites [you]?

Moving on to MIT / Sloan, an accepted Round 1 applicant highlighted the following queries in the Clear Admit Wiki:

  1. Tell me a time when something unexpected happened to you.
  2. Tell me when you did something innovative
  3. Tell me a time when you influenced someone (Then a follow up question…was: Can you tell me what your plan was?).
  4. Tell me how Sloan ranks against the other schools you applied to.

That wraps up Wiki Wednesdays this week!  As always, we’d like to thank everyone who has contributed their experiences to the Clear Admit Wiki this season and, in turn, helped their fellow applicants prepare for the often nerve-wracking admissions process.  Don’t forget to return the favor and e-mail interview reports to wiki@clearadmit.com.  Best of luck to those facing Round 2 interviews!
