For those of us in the majority of the northern hemisphere, winter certainly hasn’t ended with the new year. As temperatures continue to stay decidedly on the cold side, Clear Admit is here with another Fridays From The Frontlines, rain or shine, cold or hot, we will continue to report the highlights of the b-school blogosphere. Congratulations to those of you who wrapped up your round two applications this past week, and good luck to the few remaining applicants finishing up over the weekend.
Ahembeea was glad that his application process with Kellogg hadn’t come to an end, though beginning the nerve-wracking experience of being on a wait-list made him wonder if Kellogg offered feedback sessions. MissionMBA was bummed by the lack of flexibility a few b-schools offered in relation to waiving his TOEFL exam and happily reported his interview invite from ISB. Soni got the good news that his application to Kellogg’s MMM program had been successful but still hoped to hear from Chicago Booth. Samantha had a relaxing holiday, thought she’d hear her Columbia result before having to put a deposit down for Kellogg and considered a cheese-whiz-free future. TienyChesney, still happy with his Columbia acceptance, found a new appreciation for reading and resolved to write his first business plan. Many applicants also finished up their applications for round two. MBAlmighty submitted his Stanford application and, thinking he wasn’t going to hear from Cornell, began to consider a May application to INSEAD. Omne got his Duke application in on time while Earlybird completed their Yale materials and saw the value in strong essay reader feedback.
For those in school, the past weeks have been a break from academics. For some this means looking back at the past year and realizing how much they have been through. Darden ’10 Mechanigal couldn’t believe how far she had traveled (literally) and how much she had learned. Fellow classmate, JulyDream, also had a year in review section that gave a few shout-outs to Darden. Darden ’09 Mandy rang in the new years with a marriage! While classmate Anand was more concerned about negotiation strategies in relation to the crisis between Israel and Palestine. Ross ’10 Gltnfrpnsmt remembered why he came to Ross in the midst of interview mayhem: his Hoosier heart. Chicago Booth ’09 Forrest Gump wished his readers well in 2009 and shared his vacation experiences in Brazil. SquareMethod and his wife made a hearty dinner in Charlottesville while listening to Sufjan Stevens and pondering what 2009 has to offer. And MaybeMBA was fully enjoying her vacation and encouraged Chicago first years to chill out about internships.
As another crazy round of business school admissions simmers down, we hope all applicants are catching their collective breath and looking forward to whatever this new year has to offer. Until next week!
