Fridays From The Frontline

Seven days have passed since Clear Admit’s last edition of Fridays From The Frontline and we simply don’t know where the time went! Applicants, however, seem to be painfully aware of each passing day. Whether they are counting down to their round two deadlines, or counting the weeks before hearing from their round one choices, time is not to be trifled with in the MBA aspirant blogger pool. Time was not necessarily the friend of enrolled students either, with finals and job application deadlines in the forefront of many of their minds.

Aspirants were abuzz about the beginning trickle of acceptance/zap news out of Kellogg. Samantha was still waiting to hear from the school, and thought back to the halcyon days before she knew about Business Week forums. In addition to posting on their Wharton interview and tour, Fishee also provided information on their Kellogg experience. D.G. was pleasantly surprised to hear of his acceptance to Kellogg and celebrated with a West Cornwall pasty. Mike, after quite a lengthy silence, surfaced with a Kellogg acceptance and new motivation to blog his entire MBA experience. Ahembeea, also, had good news to share as a result of his acceptance to IIMC PGPEX! TienyChesney continued to learn about Columbia’s community by attending an admitted students reception. Maverick gave an extensive dialogued summary of his MBA process so far, while Omne encouraged fellow UNC applicants to share their perspectives on interview strategies for the school. Chandara, though not blogging as regularly, assured the MBA aspirant blogger community that she was keeping up with their lives through Clear Admit’s Fridays From The Frontline, and related her experience of unofficially running the last two miles of the New York City Marathon. Chandara wasn’t the only one giving Clear Admit a ’shout out’, MBAlmighty also praised us for our school essay analysis (thanks guys!).

First years were relatively quiet over the last week. Darden ‘10 JulyDream was making her way through her final exams and looking towards the upcoming Wall Street Week. McCombs ‘10 Metal was also finishing up his first semester, and shared his thoughts on his current marketing and accounting classes. Wharton ‘10 TinyDancer, echoing JulyDream’s sentiments from last week, talked about the stress of job application deadlines.

Second years, completing their final first semester, were weighing their experiences a bit. Harvard ‘09 AGirl’sMBA recounted her “most HBS day ever” which included class visits from high profile CEOS from Booz & Co., Vanguard, W.L. Ross & CO. and Davita. Darden ‘09 Mandy compared the differences between her first and second b-school years, and went to the Darden Prom. Ross ‘09 M@ went inside the school’s new facilities and hugged the dean responsible for its construction. INSEAD ‘09 Marc Zornes also wrapped up his final exams and prepared for his imminent departure to Singapore. McDonough ‘09 Hairtwirler received a $5 Starbucks gift certificate for being a good samaritan. Finals were also on the mind of Chicago Booth ‘09 MaybeMBA who, while appreciative of the benefits of academic life, was totally over timed tests.

And that’s all the news that’s fit to focus on for this week. Congratulations to all the aspirants who received positive news from schools this week, we hope that it isn’t too tortuous for those still waiting!
