Welcome back to another edition of Fridays From the Frontline, Clear Admit’s weekly gathering of b-school ‘intel’ from the many MBA satellites out in the blogosphere. Another week has gone by and more schools have released their 2008-2009 essay topics and deadlines, stirring up aspiring applicants across the globe. Those about to embark on their first year of the MBA reflect on their own application processes and admit there are a few things they could have done differently. In the midst of their internship summer, members of the class of ’09 continue to explore their temporary geographical locations or return home for a little rest and relaxation.
The aspiring class of ’11, as a whole, is seriously gearing up for the upcoming application process. After spending the fourth in Cleveland, Soni completed her Kellogg essay outlines and hopes to have rough drafts finished by next week. In addition to preparing for her Columbia essays, TienyChiesny received a dinky award from work! Omne took yet another GMAT prep test and wasn’t quite sure what to make of the 100 point range between many of his scores. He wasn’t alone; The Teacher worried about his looming GMAT and whether he’ll be able to get his reading comprehension performance up … perhaps the English language links Rimten recently posted could help?
Beyond essays and test prep, MyNameisNeo considered voice enhancement software to make an impression on his INSEAD interviewer, but balked at the prohibitive cost. Several steps earlier in the application process, MissionMBA began adding schools back to the list while Chankaya admitted an even softer school focus. Even Ahembeea found that last week’s school selection resolve has become slightly shaken.
Surely relieved that they don’t have go through all the stress of application season again, the class of ’10 will soon be arriving on their respective b-school campuses, but many have already arrived in their new cities. TinyDancer, now ensconced in Philadelphia, shared some of her summer reading, while MissCurlyBee shared a few thoughts about the application process and offered words of wisdom to incoming international students. The ’09ers, meanwhile, were out and about, working hard at their internships or celebrating the fourth with family and friends. Georgetown student HairTwirler talked about the Queen of Jordan, micro-finance and dead goats this week, while Iday continued to enjoy his internship experience in Chile, though he was taken aback by the number of American fast food restaurants in Santiago. Necromonger said goodbye to INSEAD (and, it seems, to his blog) and posted one last cartoon. SquareMethod listed the many surprising advantages to New York City while Mandy spent the fourth in a decidedly non-NYC location that she considers the most beautiful place on earth.
That concludes this week’s edition of FFF. Have a great weekend and tune in next week for all the latest goings-on in the MBA blogosphere!
