Through our blog, wiki and presence in various discussion boards, we strive to promote and foster the online community of MBA applicants, through which prospective students provide each other with important information and emotional support. Alex Brown has played an important role in this effort, and so it is with mixed emotions that we announce that he will be taking a leave of absence from Clear Admit this year to pursue a personal project.
In addition to his role as a Senior Admissions Counselor at Clear Admit, Alex is a training rider for race horses and maintains the racing stable’s website, timwoolleyracing.com. Over the past year, the site has received a tremendous amount of traffic and national attention as a result of Alex’s vigilent coverage of the famous horse Barbaro’s fight for life after injuring his leg during the Preakness. Though Barbaro was ultimately euthanized last January, he left behind a legacy of ardent fans and supporters who remain committed to raising money for a myriad equine welfare causes including saving horses from slaughter. Thus far the group has saved more than 700 horses as they lobby for federal legislation to be passed.
Recent articles in ESPN and the Washington Post nicely illustrate the central role Alex plays in this ongoing effort; they also offer a sense of the tremendous time commitment involved. As for the reasons he’s chosen to devote himself full-time to this project, Alex cites his interaction with Clear Admit clients, as well as the MBA applicants he encountered at Wharton during his tenure as Senior Associate Director of Admissions, as part of his inspiration. “After years of working with people who are clearly passionate about making a difference, he says, “I saw an opportunity to make an impact of my own, and that is what i am now trying to do.”
Though he’ll be focusing on the Tim Woolley Racing website and relocating to the UK in the coming months, Alex plans to stay in touch with the Clear Admit team and remain on board in an advisory capacity. We wish him the best of luck in this new endeavor, and look forward to seeing how his own story develops! To learn more about Alex’s project, visit timwoolleyracing.com.
