MBA News: Haas Launches Education Case Competition

On March 1st and 2nd the Haas Leadership in Education Club will host its first Education Leadership Case Competition. The competition brings together MBA teams from Haas, USC, UCLA Anderson, Kellogg, MIT Sloan, Brandeis, and the University of Georgia to analyze school-based budgeting in the Oakland Unified School District and make recommendations to the district on next steps.

The Leadership in Education Club developed the case competition to provide the Oakland school district with ideas for making the school system stronger while exposing MBA students to the challenges faced by educational leaders – and hopefully getting some students excited in pursuing careers in the field.

This event is another great example of the kind of innovative programming MBA students create and of the opportunities to get involved in the community as a business school student. While researching schools, be sure to check out the student-initiated programs taking place on campus, since club activities provide a great sense of the interests and engagement of the student body.
