Check the following link to read all about the nuances of the MBA admissions process. http://www.businessweek.com/bschools/content/jun2003/bs20030630_2491.htm Most students only look at the financial aid options offered directly by the MBA program they are applying to, but it often makes sense to venture beyond this realm. For example, have you ever thought of asking your undergraduate institution for help with your MBA tuition? Graduates of Swarthmore College who are heading off to select business schools can apply for the Thomas B. McCabe Jr. and Yvonne Motley McCabe Memorial Fellowship. This fellowship awards Swarthmore graduates $5,000 for their first year of MBA study is subject to application for renewal for a second year. If you are a Swarthmore graduate, see the web site for details. If not, this information should inspire you to look beyond the basic financial aid options that are out there – since there may be areas you have not yet explored. Just had a discussion with Josh Kobb (Director of Development) from HEC’s MBA program in France. A few quick facts: Application volume to the MBA program was up 65% last season – good news for HEC – given the declines seen by many other schools. Other interesting stats: 85% of the incoming HEC MBA student body is international (non-French). 50% of the incoming HEC MBA student body is non-European. Advice from the adcom: Students who are interested in HEC and curious about their chances should fill out the candidate profile before applying, since this is an excellent way to get some initial feedback prior to submitting the complete application. See the HEC site for more information. |
